The Minority Men’s Network consists of a members’ network of men primarily in Columbia/Boone County who serve as a support group for individuals to provide leadership and to address issues that are vital to the minority community. The primary participants of the Minority Men’s Network are African-American and other “at risk” minority males. Dr. Eliot Battle and Dr. Arvarh Strickland were the “co-conveners” of our organization and like them, we strive to be positive role models who STEP UP to lead and serve our community.
The Minority Men’s Network Educational Foundation provides scholarships annually to African-American students pursuing a post-secondary education. These scholarships are an INVESTMENT in our youth and our future. The Men of the Network believe that EDUCATION is the gateway to better options and greater opportunities. Through mentoring we encourage and support minority youth all along the continuum from early childhood to adulthood and career in pursuing academic excellence.

There’s not a simple solution to poverty. Every person faces different challenges. Some people need information while others need assistance but most of the time they need both. Having all the puzzle pieces isn’t enough if you don’t know what the finished jigsaw puzzle looks like.
A caring relationship becomes a bridge between today’s difficulties and tomorrow’s successes. Encouragement and love are what people need as well as practical information and resources.
Love is the answer. At Love INC, Columbia volunteers and staff lovingly help anyone in need. Sometimes we provide resources, other times we provide counsel but always, help – on the road to sustainability!
