Tampa Spartans Land Pro Swim Series Qualifier Lachlan Gantt for 2026 | Swimming Recruit Spotlight (2026)

The University of Tampa has added a talented swimmer to its 2026 recruiting class, with Lachlan Gantt committing to join the Spartans. This is a significant addition to the team, as Gantt has been consistently breaking personal records and performing well in various swimming competitions.

Gantt's recent achievements include setting new personal best times in almost every event during the 2025-2026 season. At the FMC Speedo Grand Challenge, he achieved lifetime best performances, placing 14th in the 100 IM, 17th in the 50 free, and 19th in the 100 free. He further improved his times at the 2025 Winter Junior Championships – West, posting a lifetime best time of 20.87 in the 50 free and 45.16 in the 100 free.

The swimmer's performance continued to excel at the 2026 Illinois Senior Championships, where he placed 7th in the 200 back, 8th in the 100 fly, and 9th in the 50 back, all while setting new personal bests. At the 2026 NCSA Spring Championships, he placed 13th in the 100 free, 18th in the 200 free, and 42nd in the 50 free, showcasing his versatility and speed.

Gantt's strengths lie in the free, back, and fly strokes, and he has been training year-round with the FMC Aquatic Club. His commitment to the University of Tampa is a significant step in his swimming career, and he will join a Division II program that has been performing exceptionally well.

The Spartans have been on a winning streak, having won their fourth straight conference title in the Sunshine State Conference and reclaiming the NCAA Division II team title in 2026. With Gantt's addition, the team is expected to bring added depth and strength, especially in the 100 and 200 free events.

Gantt will be joined by Dillon Brigman and Tyson Walker, both of whom are expected to be strong training partners. The University of Tampa's coaching staff, including Dave, Jim, Brian, Rod, Frank, Ehud, Bishop, and Kiner, will play a crucial role in guiding Gantt's development and helping him reach his full potential.

In my opinion, the University of Tampa's commitment to Gantt is a strategic move that will benefit the team's performance and reputation. Gantt's dedication and talent make him a valuable asset, and his presence will undoubtedly contribute to the Spartans' continued success in the swimming world.
